Project Name & Description:

Design Review and Construction Supervision of The Sasamua Dam

Description of Services Provided:

Involved collection of hydrological data, estimation of the PMP and the rainfall data available in Sasumua area and adjacent areas. Unit hydrographs were drawn and floods were generated at various return periods. A generalised flood curve for the reservoir was developed using the SCS and TRRL method. New sizing of the spill way was done taking into account changes in land use upstream. These were done in view of restoring the spillway to safely operate the Sasumua dam as an efficient source of water supply to the City of Nairobi.
